OVERVIEW

The Conference

IDP established the CamTESOL conference series in 2005.  It is the premier professional development forum for teachers of English in Cambodia. It has also become a significant international conference with around 300 international participants from over 25 countries now attending annually.

The conference is designed to be practical and of direct benefit to practising teachers of English.  The aims of the conference are to:

  • provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and dissemination of information on good practices within English Language Teaching;

  • strengthen and broaden the network of  English Language teachers and all those involved in the English Language Teaching (ELT) sector in Cambodia;

  • increase the links between the ELT community in Cambodia and the international ELT community; and

  • showcase research in the field of ELT.

The conference brings together the following groups of stakeholders from Cambodia and the broader Asian region as well as other international participants and presenters:

  • Classroom teachers of English;

  • Future teachers of English / teacher-trainees;

  • Administrators of English Language Schools and Universities;

  • Educators with an interest in supporting English and international education;

  • ELT-related individuals and institutions e.g. book publishers, bookshop representatives, Ministry of Education representatives, NGO representatives; and
  • Foreign experts or researchers on Cambodia who wish to network within the ELT community in Cambodia.

The 6th CamTESOL Conference on English Language Teaching will be held on 27-28 February 2010 at the National Institute of Education.  The theme of the 2010 conference will be “One World: World Englishes.”

The format of the conference will include presentations from invited international plenary speakers and contributed papers and workshops in around 20 streams aimed at encouraging more interactive participation from delegates.

This national event is of relevance to anyone involved in the education sector.  The advertising packages below provide excellent opportunities for direct access to roughly 1,200 delegates who regularly attend this conference.  Sponsorship for Government teachers from the provinces and final year trainee teachers is strongly encouraged, as these teachers are the least privileged participants in the conference.  The conference aims to achieve sponsorship for at least 100 high school teachers from the provinces each year.
