Selection of Papers for Language Education in Asia
    Volume 8, Issues 1 and 2, 2017

Papers submitted for consideration to Language Education in Asia (LEiA) for Volume 8, Issues 1 and 2 will be accepted until March 8, 2017. Please note that there is only one submission deadline for the year. Papers will be considered together, regardless of the date submitted. Screening includes an examination for similarities to previously published work. Please see the Submission of Papers page for essential information on LEiA preliminary submission requirements: only papers meeting the requirements will be considered by the Editorial Board. Papers received after the submission deadline will be considered for Volume 9 (2018).

Inclusion at the CamTESOL Conference is not a prerequisite for submission. As is standard practice with Language Education in Asia, each submission that is successful in the screening process will be blind-reviewed and submissions accepted by the Editorial Board will be included in the publication.

    Appropriate Paper / Abstract Topics

The readership of Language Education in Asia is comprised of local Asian and expatriate educators as well as those from international institutions. Submissions which present well-researched aspects of language education and learning, innovative, practical approaches to classroom practice, and discussion of relevant issues in the field that would be of interest in the Asian region are encouraged. When preparing submissions, authors should consider the context of ELT in developing countries in Asia, where most schools have limited resources and teachers often have to contend with large numbers of students in their classrooms. When selecting submissions, the Language Education in Asia Editorial Board takes into account the local context as well as areas of interest for international readers. Successful submissions may include, but are not limited to:

    Research:

    • Professional development: Teacher awareness of student attitudes
    • Testing: Response analysis and reliability
    • Investigation of variables affecting teachers, students, institutions or the learning process

    Teaching Practice:

    • Curriculum and materials development: Supplementary materials development, student development of course materials, implementation of integrated approaches in curriculum, adaptation of teaching materials or texts to the local context, instruction with limited resources, utilisation of authentic materials at all levels
    • EAP and ESP
    • Independent Learning: How to increase learner autonomy
    • Methodology: Teaching grammar communicatively, teaching mixed level classes
    • Teaching Reading / Speaking / Writing: Innovative strategies for teaching reading / speaking / writing, teaching speaking with task-based approaches, encouraging communication in large classes
    • Testing: Non-traditional forms of assessment and testing
    • Program / School Management: Effective management skills, management of special programs, development of a successful adult ESP program

    Commentary:

    • Current issues related to language learning and language teaching
    • Discussion of language policy and related impact in the region
    • National and international policies, not limited to language policies, which may have an impact on the learning and / or teaching context in the region or internationally
