CamTESOL Regional ELT Research Symposium

Since 2005, the CamTESOL conference has attracted an increasing number of research-based presentations.  In 2008 the first research-focused training session was held in the lead-up to the conference. This became a half-day workshop formally attached to the conference in 2009. By 2013, there were close to 100 abstracts that were based on research.  It was therefore decided to expand the research component of CamTESOL into a regional symposium.

CamTESOL, in partnership with the University English Centres Australia (UECA), conducted the first symposium in 2014. This symposium attracted over 200 delegates, predominantly from ASEAN countries and the Asia-Pacific region.  Highlights of this symposium include:

  • Plenaries by leading international language researchers
  • A colloquium on peer mentoring for regional researchers
  • Presentations on collaborative research, with a focus on Southeast Asia
  • Presentation of research conducted within ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific

Workshops to provide professional development for aspiring researchers
