CamTESOL-NEAS International ELT Leadership Forum

Background

Since CamTESOL began in 2005, the conference has included mechanisms to facilitate the exchange of English language teaching practices, new research findings related to the ELT field and ideas between local ELT leaders and managers and their counterparts in other countries. As the demand for high-quality ELT continues to grow in the region and around the world, from 2008 onwards, CamTESOL, in partnership with the National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS), from Australia, has introduced the ELT Leadership Forum to provide a platform to facilitate conversations and dialogue between school administrators, centre managers, directors of studies and policy makers, as well as emerging leaders in the ELT field, by exchanging ideas and issues, sharing advice and best practice, and working collaboratively to solve problems.

This Forum attracts over 100 managers, leaders, and ELT professionals, predominantly from ASEAN countries and internationally. NEAS’s presence provides a level of expertise and knowledge to support the effectiveness of the forum ensuring that the forum provides a productive start of the CamTESOL Conference for attendees. NEAS has been providing accreditation and quality assurance services in English language teaching since 1990 and has experience in the conduct of various managers of English language schools and in particular focuses on professional development for the industry in Australia.

Aims of the Forum

The forum has the following aims:

• to bring together local, regional, and international leaders and managers of language schools;
• to provide a specific local and regional forum for the discussion of issues related to leading and managing a quality ELT Centre;
• to add value to the CamTESOL conference, specifically for local and regional ELT leaders and managers who wish to network and enhance the standing of their institutions in their respective countries.

Target Participants

The forum targets the following groups of participants:

• school leaders and policy makers in the field of ELT;
• new school principals and managers who want to gain more insights in school leadership and hear from more experienced professionals;
• researchers who are interested in leadership-related issues;
• teachers, educators and other individuals who want to enhance their profession in school leadership in the field of ELT.

Format of the Forum

The forum is a pre-conference activity, which will take place on Friday 7 February 2020 from 1:30-5:00pm at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC). A certificate of participation is given to all attendees at the end of the forum.

Participation and Registration

This forum is a ticketed event. In order to participate in the Leadership Forum, participants will need to register for both the Main Conference and the forum itself.
